How do you deal with Deployment?

I have been with my boyfriend (he’s my high school sweetheart) for over 5 years and we r still together...Right now he’s currently training in Seattle…. He just recently graduated from Ranger school... which im not sure but i think he deploys for only 3-4 months??he’s soon going to deploys in February. I know that may be along was away… but these months feeling like they are flying by… I’m starting to get very nervous and very scared… I use to love to watch movies bout war such as Saving Private Ryan, Black Hawk Down, and Band of Brothers, but now that the love of my life has chosen his career to be a soldier my heart fills with fear… I cant watch any of the movies I once loved… I cant listen to the news about Iraq… my heart fills with hurt and fear… I even have vivid nightmares…how do I get over this? Can you get over fear?? How do you deal with deployment? Please any advice would help…

My husband is in the Marine Corp, he has not have to go overseas yet, but because of the military he is often gone doin things with them. I think your still young, 3-4 months is really not a long time when you have a life of your own. Just love him, and respect him enough to understand that he has something he has to do. And have your own life (this does not mean going out to party.), work full-time, get a BA degree, start saving money. Your not married to this guy, but if you'd like to be then get your life together while he is away. He will love it!!! Men want to know that they are needed, BUT at the same time they want to know that if they are not around your not going to fall apart either. They want a woman that can be strong and still take care of things if they have to go away both physcially and emotionally. Just let him know you love him, and that you will be there when he returns, that's all he wants from you. And like I said if you really love this guy start to get your life together with college degrees, savings, etc....you can start to create this for the both of you.
