Watch Strap Band

Every time I wear a watch it breaks on me! Help?

I have had this lifelong problem.......with watches!! I can't wear one for more then 2 weeks and it dies. I've tried buying pricey ones, they would still die. Someone even gave me a very expensive watch last Christmas with a rubber band lined for the part that goes around your wrist-the strap. The head of it went dead soon! What's wrong with me?My folks accuse me of not looking after them or something, they don't seem to believe me. I take very good care of them, but they just die so I've stopped buying them. Does anyone know what's going on? Have you heard of something like this happen before? thanks

By breaking, I imagine you mean that it just stops working, not that it falls apart or that the straps break.

If so, maybe the watches you buy have old or defective batteries, if they've been sitting on the shelf a long time. Or if you talk with your hands you might jar it against something and knock a wheel out of alignment.

Whatever the case, just do what I do -- wear a sundial wristwatch...no battery and no moving parts. Hmmm...but for some reason, it seems to stop working at night.

The long-term exposure to strong sunlight will not only make the color of leather strap fade away but also accelerate the aging of its cortex. Due to strong pull and force, leather strap will tend to break. So please bear a caring mind in your head to wear watch with careful movements.

In regard with cleaning of leather strap, you can use a soft wet cloth with some "das Spuelmittel" to wipe the leather strap.Then clean it again with clean wet cloth, last place it at a cool place to dry it. In fact, common leather oil can be used for the maintenance fo leather strap. Preferably leather strap ought to have cleaning at intervals of one month, after that you are supposed to use some common leather protecting agent for cleaning and maintenance.
