Back in Black

You probably started humming the AC/DC song as soon as you read this title, but today we're not talking heavy metal tunes, we're talking watches. Black watches.

Black is probably the most common color used in watchmaking. Black looks good with all metals, whether its stainless steel, gold (yellow, rose), or platinum and provides a striking contrast for diamonds or other precious gems or stones used on a watch. Plus the popularity of the black rubber strap on luxury watches. The list for these is so long, but some of the top examples include the Big Bang by Hublot (actually the first company to use a black rubber strap in conjunction with a luxury watch), the Royal Oak and Royal Oak Offshore collections by Audemars Piguet, the Aquaracer and Formula 1 collections by TAG Heuer, the T-Touch collection of Tissot watches, and the Riviera collection by Baume Mercier among many, many others.

Since there are too many black watches to discuss, I've chosen just a sampling of men's watches and women's watches to talk about in this article.

When I say "black watches", the range is wide, going from all black watches to watches with a black dial, black rubber strap or black leather strap, among other features.

For men's watches, let's talk TAG watches and Raymond Weil. Both are great companies that make good-looking and highly functional watches.

TAG Heuer is known for its famous Monaco series which has many styles. The all black TAG men's Monaco Automatic Chronograph is a great watch. With its square stainless steel case and bezel, black dial, which have black chronograph features and black leather strap, this is a strong, stylish watch. For the ladies, we're going to review three watches. The Link by TAG Heuer is not only black it also comes with diamonds.
