General History of Tag Heuer Watches

It all began in 1860, where history was made. A young entrepreneur from Switzerland named Edourd Heuer, who had always loved to tinker and who was also fascinated with the idea of precision time-keeping, decided to open a watch workshop called the Edouard Heuer, Fabrique d'Horlogerie. Eventually he combined his interest in time-keeping and his tinkering talents, and created a working design for the measurement of time. This led to the production of TAG Heuer Watches or the Tag Watches, as they eventually came to be known.
The first Tag Watch stopwatch, designed by Heuer in 1916, was the Tag Watch Micrograph Stopwatch, a clock with a "time writer" or "chronograph" built in. This was one of the most exciting and important developments of the era because this first Tag Watch stopwatch had an oscillating pinion, which made the Tag Watch Micrograph Stopwatch the first mechanical stopwatch proven to be accurate to one hundredth of a second.
Tag Watch then developed a wonderful variety and range of Tag Watch watches and chronographs. They were again the leaders in the 1930s offering a huge assortment of chronographs designed for pilots.
In the 1940s, Tag Watch introduced the triple calendar chronographs, followed in the 1950s by timepieces for the dashboard as well as Tag Watch watches that were more rugged and robust than other watches.
The Tag Watch Monaco, the first square-cased, water-resistant watch, was created in 1969. This was an amazing innovation by Tag Watch. The Tag Watch Monaco was worn by Hollywood's Steve McQueen in his 1970 classic car racing film, Le Mans, confirming its iconic status.
Because of its accuracy and its amazing history of timekeeping, the Tag Watch has also become very popular among professionals in individual sports as well as with other sports personalities One particular fan of the Tag Watch, is Lewis Hamilton, one of the UK's renowned racing drivers who has won the Formula 1 race where the official timekeeper has been the Tag Watch. Maria Sharapova, the Russian tennis superstar and former Wimbledon tennis tournament champion is also a fan of the Tag Watch.
Tag (Techniques d'Avant Garde) purchased Heuer's Tag Watch in 1985 and went on to create one of the most renown Tag Heuer models of the Tag Watch, the Tag Heuer Formula 1 Watch. Later in 1999, LVMH Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy acquired Heuer's Tag Watch from Techniques d'Avant Garde, making a huge investment and exponentially increasing distribution of the Tag Heuer Watch.
